There's been a lot posted about the new closet, I know (still very exciting for me, but NO I have not camped out in there, yet...YET). So how timely that a great commercial has come out that I think is too perfect for words! Nap Time

These were just funny of Elena. She never...NEVER ...takes naps. For whatever reason, she did the other day and it was the most blissful hour in a very long time...hehehe! And she was a bright bit of sunshine afterward, so what a joy on so many levels...I HAD to capture it for posterity!

And then there were floors...

Eric has put the floor in on the closet, and I thought I'd post some fun photos. Elena was quick to help, telling daddy to "calm down, it's ok, Daddy!" when she got into things she shouldn't...but daddy was incredibly patient in allowing her to help...asking her to get "stretch" for him (that's what the tape measure's name is on the Handy Manny show on Disney)...or to hand him a pencil, etc. He actually caught her figuring out how to fit the wood pieces together while he was cutting a new piece to fit in next...uh-oh...now we have two of them ready to renovate more!!! ;) Eric also made up songs about helping and working on the floor. I didn't nearly mind it as much that it was WAY past bedtime for all of us to get in that type of quality time. Priceless... Enjoy the shots...oh, and yes, that is a SAW in the loft/office area...yes, seriously...but cool, huh?

Chandeliers!

More shelves, finally all in place, and yes...I have chandeliers...not just one, but two!!! Eric has accused me of planning to live in the closet now...I just may...Oh, the sparkles...mmmm, "sparklies"..HAHAHA!!!

Honey, thank you so much for this beautiful new space. It is more than I could have hoped for, better than I dreamed...and I promise I will keep it clean...at least, I will try...really, really try! ;)

Side note: some of you may be wondering why I am so enthralled with this. Well, I am pretty proud of my husband for one thing, considering up until a about a year ago, this kind of thing was not his forte'. The fact that he has created space, especially storage space where it is next to non-existent in our home, is a pretty amazing feat in my book so I want to share it. I hope you will take this as a grateful grouping of posts. I truly am thankful.

We have paint...

It's been a busy week and weekend in the closet department... Eric spent any free time he could working on getting things put together to get my closet contents back into the closet. Bless his heart...you'd think he'd be sick of this, but no, he has a smile a mile wide as he surveys his progress. So filling, sanding, painting and so forth has been a constant effort in "making Xanadu happen" (that is what he has nicknamed the closet...). The floor won't be in for another week, but the closet is painted and the system is in...so here's some shots of that coming together. By the way, the first picture looks a little crooked because Elena took it. Apparently Iam not the only one proud of Daddy's work! :)

As I post I look at the time, and 4 years ago today we were told, "you'll have a new baby soon..."and there she was before 8:30pm...a brand new life entrusted to us by God. Elena is a blessing, a miracle, and every fiber of her being proves that simply put, HE IS. Thank you, Lord, for allowing us to care for her for You.

We started the day out with Elena, literally, as she crawled in bed with us about 2 or so this morning and stayed. She spied the balloons we'd tied to the stairwell leading down to her "surprise party" from us. She has been holding "surprise parties" for all her My Little Ponies as of late, so we thought we'd plan one for her. It worked! She had fun seeing everything decorated and opening gifts was the epitome of the morning. That and a drive through to McDonalds and a drive in the sunshine. Good times!

We had lunch at Cheesecake Factory where Elena was serenaded, SO good and SO fun. Then off for an afternoon at the "tree", which is a big play area at Northbrook Mall. She loves it there.

And now it's official...so Happy Birthday one more time, Sweet Baby. We love you!

More closet, and Happy Anniversary!

Sorry I've been behind on updating, but here's more on the closet...THERE"S A DOOR!!! And Eric goes today for accessories...yea! A big shout out to my beloved in-laws, Mares and Bobby for a Happy Anniversary! Beautiful couple...here's to another beautiful year, and thank you for your beautiful example of love and commitment!
