Not much to Report...

We've had another bought of illness here. What do you expect with the weather and runny noses in church, right?!?! We're bound to bring stuff home. So we have been penned up at home, keeping warm from sub-zero temps (all you warm weather livin' folks are on my list right now...I ENVY you!!) and trying to get better. Poor Elena has really had a time, but as pitiful as she's been she is still so darn cute. Yesterday, she wanted to color so badly but could not lift her head to do it. How sad is that? Today, I got a smile out of her. Also, she was comforting her baby today, telling her "Is ok, baby. You alwight. I' be ok. You feewl bettoh soon. S'ok, ok." All the while patting her back and "having lunch" with her. Funny. She also spent a lot of time in our bed...apparently mommy and daddy's bed is much more comfortable when we don't feel well.

Why hello, Princess!

Here's a funny for all...we're doing laundry and Elena decides there is nothing better than to dive right in to the warm piles of freshly cleaned clothes('cause who wouldn't?). She spies an item of interest and decides it is perfect to put on. Without any help she had one of Daddy's shirts on, starts twirling around the room and looking at herself in the reflection from the glass back door, and exclaims, "Why, hello Princess!" I think of her as one but don't make a point of calling her that (usually it's "peanut" or "peaches"). Apparently, all you need is a t-shirt for a gown and a slick floor to dance on to be one in the mind of a 2 year old. Playing dress-up is going to be fun...Eric is going to come home one of these days wondering which of us is his daughter. HAHAHA!
The last picture is of Elena helping Daddy continue to work on the floors. Princess and Assistant Carpenter; yep, she can do it all (Insert Chaka Khan's 'I'm Every Woman' and we're good to go!) :)

Happy New Year!

Nope, never saw the ball drop. Illness has ravaged the Meidel household, but not enough to miss an attempt at getting our "party on". Daddy had paper hats and noisemakers for us so we took pictures to look like merry New Year revelers...are we convincing enough?

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Day was spent at home with just the three of us. It was quiet but good after traveling and running around. I have a deep appreciation for quiet much more so than before. I can't decide if it is motherhood or getting older...or both! ;) We did have to coax Elena into opening presents again this year. She wanted to watch Thomas the Train and started to cry. I don't think she quite got what she'd be missing out on. Mark that in your books, 'cause I guarantee that'll never happen again! She finally did figure out that she was allowed to rip and shred things with mommy's and daddy's permission, and then it was non-stop. She also asked to open gifts the rest of the day. Funny! So though quiet and mostly uneventful, I am thankful for this time with Eric and Elena. It seems that with each passing Christmas/year, time with them gets better and better. They are wonderful blessings, and to have them in my life is such a gift!
